I am in a group show called "Twinkle Twinkle" opening at Plus Gallery this Friday, December 14th, 6-10pm.
I am exhibiting two 4' x 5' canvasses that I am very excited about. I have never shown on canvas and really enjoyed both the scale and the medium of these pieces.

11.26.07 Opening. Nov 30th, 2007

I have a two person show opening this Friday, November 30th at Space Gallery.
Space Gallery is on Sante Fe Drive, between 7th and 8th in Denver, CO. The opening if from 6-9pm.
I have created a new, large body of work. I feel this to be some of the best work I have made thus far. The show is called "Beneath the See". It consists of nine large (49 x 53") Pen, ink, and glitter drawings on heavy paper.
Audra Knutson is the other artist exhibiting with me. She makes beautiful linocuts (prints) that overlap with my work in there ambiguous content and use of strange and somewhat romantic symbolism.
The installation of the show should also be interesting, we are painting the gallery walls black!
Look forward to seeing you there...

10.15.07 Fellowship Award

I was accepted and awarded a fellowship to attend a residency program at The Vermont Studio Center for the month of May 2008. This will be my first residency! It is one of the largest residency programs in the United States for artists and writers and is nestled away in the heart of the Green Mountains.

Some more exciting news... I entered a very new piece that is not yet on my website into the Faber Birren National Color Award Show. The show was juried by Gary Carrion-Murayari, the assistant curator at The Whitney Museum in NYC. I won The Stamford Art Association Award of Excellence!

07.26.07 Object and Thought

I have two shows opening this next first friday, August 3rd.
The first show is a group show called "transmute" and is in Plus Gallery's alternate space called Object and thought, 6-9 pm @ 3559 Larimer Street, Denver, 80205. One of my large oil paintings will be on display, plus other great work by my fellow peers.
The second show is going to be lots of fun... I have created a special body of small, and affordable glitter paintings. It will be taking place at a groovy DIY store called Fancy Tiger from 7-10 pm. The address is 1 South Broadway, Denver, 80209. There will be beer, tunes, and mucho fun. The name of the show is " Alone in the Wilderness of Magic Disco Light " Now how's that for a title?

07.26.07 Winner!!

Some good news... I submitted two new pieces to Space Gallery's Juried 2007 show and won!! What a great surprise. I wish I could share a picture of the funny beast that won Michael Burnett's heart (the Director of the gallery). He will make it onto the website once I finish the body of work. The beast is something like a deer/antelope/horsey creature with huge, hot pink glitter antlers. He also has a sublime forest of white trees growing out of his head. Go figure. Anyway, the reward was a show at Space Gallery in November 2007. It's a huge gallery, so I am already busy working towards that show, all new work, big crazy plans in my head.

05.23.07 Self-Made

My lecture for Self-Made went really well. I was nervous, but actually enjoyed it a lot. I shared 64 slides of the past 7 years of work plus the first 3 minutes of the animation that Adrian and I are collaborating on. Lots of people came and gave me feedback and encouragement.

I am hoping to show a short animation of my wacky friends (i.e. the creatures I draw) for the first time!

with a huge variety of work. I have created a new series- an alphabet of unlovable creatures, but don't worry because they are actually very lovable :-)

02.03.07 Iron

I was invited to partake in an iron pour last weekend at Ironton Studios which was an adventure. It was sooo cold, but yet a hundred or so people turned up to see what was happening. I made a sand mold of two logs which need lots of cold working to make them beautiful, but they turned out pretty well regardless.

02.03.07 Capsule Gallery

Last night I was in a juried show at Capsule Gallery on Santa Fe in Denver. I was awarded Le Grande Prix by Rachel Hawthorn, a local photographer. Very exciting!

02.01.07 The Golden Rupture

"The Golden Rupture" went well. I was very happy with the turn out and the installation of the show.
I painted a large mural of a golden tree with a hot-pink background. I also had an amazing harp player perform for the opening. I also created two sculptures, one was a narwhal tooth with a gilded tip, the other was a fawn with butterfly cacoons hatching during the opening. These will be on the website very soon. There was a write up in the Rocky Mountain News.

10.23.06 Golden

I just returned from Paris where I participated in a group show at The Louvre. Here is a link to the press release through I V Y Paris.
"The Golden Rupture", my first solo exhibition in Denver, is opening November 3rd at Stay Gallery. There will be a performance from 8-9pm that will heighten the viewing experience, so please try to come within that window of time if at all possible.
"Friends", a group show I am also participating in, opens the same evening as "The Golden Rupture" at Andenken Gallery. For more details, follow the Andenken link and then go to schedule and scroll down until you see "Friends".
"A Night of 1000 Drawings" at Artist Space in NYC is open on November 8. I have two drawings in this show. All the art is donated by the artist to the gallery. A good opportunity to buy some affordable art and support an excellent organization.
I have quite a few more exhibitions coming up in various different places over the next few months, so please stay posted.
**Side note: My computer crashed and I lost most of my mailing list from the past year, so if you are still interested in receiving invites, would you please sign my mailing list once again. Thanks.
